It is the objective of SolarWorld AG to be a leader in the area of technology and quality and to have a prominent position in the fast growing international photovoltaic market. We want to use this position of technical leadership to gain a market and brand edge for our customers and partners, to increase the company value in the long-term and to create a high added value on behalf of shareholders, co-workers and the company in all the countries in which we are represented.
As a central interface between the concern and the outside world, SolarWorld Innovations GmbH combines the global research activities and the group--wide technology and expertise of SolarWorld AG. In this way, the entire value-added chain from crystallisation via wafer, cell and module production right to complete solar systems is included. SolarWorld Innovations is the point of contact for universities, institutes and companies with which close research collaboration is being undertaken.
Science to technology
The motto, “Science to technology” defines the desire of SolarWorld Innovations GmbH which was founded in July, 2007: to develop innovative research concepts which are orientated to production requirements and problems and to come up with ideas which can be implemented quickly.
SolarWorld Innovations works specifically on the implementation of the group’s roadmap and regards itself as a service provider and an international research centre of SolarWorld AG. Therefore, SolarWorld’s subsidiaries and production facilities in the United States and in Korea also benefit from the new technologies developed in Freiberg, Saxony.
The research company in Freiberg thus covers in technological development along the entire value-added chain entire value-added chain from crystallisation via wafer, cell and module production right to system technology in one location. Thus, for example, the characterisation of our solar cells and the technological understanding for further interconnection allow us to enhance the quality of the performance and therefore the benefit to the customer.
A particular area of emphasis for SolarWorld Innovations GmbH resides in the development and evaluation of processes and equipment whereby researchers and developers work closely together with technologists from the most diverse areas of production. Fully developed machines and processes are introduced into production and ensure directly that there are uniformly high quality standards, efficient work flow and savings of costs and resources throughout the group. Thus, standard products are subject to constant improvement and examination. Conversely, a large amount of practical experience flows into developments through the close cooperation of colleagues in production and research.
